Mr. Andrew Mayne comes to Sarajevo from UNHCR Headquarters in Geneva, where he served as Deputy Director of the Division of Programme Support and Management, and was responsible for strengthening results-based management and operational information management, including refugee registration.
In his previous field posting, prior to 2006, Mr. Mayne served as Deputy Representative and Acting Representative in Sierra Leone during the repatriation of Liberian refugees and the local integration of Sierra Leonean returnees.
In the late 90s Mr. Mayne was Assistant Regional Representative in Vienna, coordinating UNHCR’s support to the development of asylum systems in five central European countries during their EU accession process.
In the early 90s, Mr. Mayne was responsible at Headquarters for the repatriation of Cambodian refugees. In the various field positions in the ten years prior to that, Mr. Mayne was engaged in the emergency response to the Liberian refugee situation inCote d’Ivoire, as well as in bringing durable solutions to protracted refugee situations in Somalia and Pakistan.
Mr. Mayne joined UNHCR in 1985, having worked with refugees and returnees in Thailand and Cambodia for the previous four years.
